Job description
The Electrical Engineer II position is responsible for the design, development, validation, and maintenance of the company’s technology, processes, and workflows within the electrical and electromechanical domains. You will work within a broad technological scope, from design and build of products, test fixtures and rigs, to data collection, and analysis. Focus area of product include power supply, hardware design, functional testing, and compliance testing. You will support lifecycle workflows from concept design through validation, test, and transition to manufacturing by contract manufacturer. This involves cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across disciplines, including mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing, quality, and business development. This position is on-site, conveniently located to I-26, I-526, in a well-appointed office space with laboratory, machining, mechanical and electrical assembly and test areas.
Examples of day-to-day tasks include:
· Digital design centered around microcontrollers and associated interfaces.
· Analog design for signal conditioning of low frequency sensor data.
· Power supply design using solid state ICs including IGBT, triac, and mosfet, with a focus on thermal management and safety.
· Generation of files and support packages for PCBA manufacturing and testing.
· Maintenance of existing product electronics packages.
· Development of in-house electronics for lab use.
Analyzing and presenting performance data to other teams and management.
Job requirements
The ideal candidate would have:
· BS degree in Electrical Engineering and 4+ years’ experience or equivalent.
· Desire to learn power supply design including inverters, high speed switching, and other topologies.
· Experience with all prototyping processes including soldering, multi-layer PCB design, and assembly.
· Proficient in PCBA design, circuit simulation, and debugging using Altium, PSPICE.
· Experience writing and troubleshooting firmware.
· Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
· Proficient with lab test equipment including oscilloscope, waveform and digital analyzers, data recorders.
· Experience with electronics manufacturing processes.
· Experience with intellectual property development including algorithms and patents.
· Excellent organizational skills, drive, determination, grit, a positive attitude with an open mind to continuously learn, and thrive with a highly varied workload, and the focus to meet objectives.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
· PMP certification is a plus.
